Ilya Olegovich Tyapugin, age 40, of Kirov, Russia, passed away on February 22, 2024, in Clackamas, Oregon. He was born on May 15, 1983, and served in the U.S. Army for 23 years.
Ilya was a man amongst men, with a pure soul and a quiet demeanor. He had an everlasting affection for nature and lived a life dedicated to his career as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Active Army Reserves. He received 29 Army awards, including medals, ribbons, and certificates. He proudly served two tours of duty, one in Afghanistan and one in Colombia.
In his free time, Ilya enjoyed fishing, exploring nature, he loved astronomy and history. He was remarkably enthusiastic about everything electronic. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Alla Tyapugina, stepfather Michael Putsche, stepsisters Erica Neiderer and Shanna Castillo and his father Oleg Tyapugin. He is preceded in death by his brother, Igor Tyapugin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9th, at 12:00 at Weeks Funeral Home, 451 Cemetery Rd, Buckley, WA 98321. Contributions in memory of Ilya can be made to Conservation Northwest online at https://conservationnw.org/.
