Mary Louise (Watson) Terry went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 1, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born on October 11, 1928, in Cairo, Illinois and spent most of her growing up and early adult years in Loudon, Tennessee. Mary was salutatorian of her senior class, graduating in 1946. Following her graduation, Mary attended business school and worked for John Bailey Insurance for five years and for Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for four years. She married her beloved husband, Vernon, on January 4, 1957. Mary and Vernon spent their honeymoon traveling across the country from Tennessee to Washington State. They spent the first two years living in Alderwood Manor, Washington, then moved to Redmond, Washington where they lived and raised their children for 30 years. In 1990, they sold their home in Redmond and built their country dream home in Buckley, Washington. Prior to having children, Mary worked for Boeing for two years in Seattle, then was a stay-at-home mother until their youngest child entered school. Mary worked at Sundstrand Data Control for four years, then went to work at Bellevue Christian School as a bookkeeper, where she retired. In 1984, Mary joined the Credit Women’s International Career Club. She was always busy and never one to sit idly by; one of her most common sayings was that “idle hands are the devil’s workshop” ….so, she played the piano, worked crossword puzzles, did ceramics, gardened, sewed, quilted, cooked and did virtually anything to stay busy. She loved to host friends and family at their home. She was generous, kind, and hospitable to everyone; she never met a stranger. Mary was a proper southern lady who loved her family, but more importantly, she loved the Lord. She spent her lifetime sharing and serving God. She was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Vernon; son, Larry Mark Terry; parents, Julia Floy and John Lewis of Loudon, Tennessee; two sisters, Ruth Elizabeth (Betty Watson) Hooker and Charlotte Grace (Watson) Howard; and three brothers, Herman Alan Watson; Henry Lloyd (“Bubba”) Watson and Roy Lewis Watson. She is survived by her brother, Robert Phil Watson of Knoxville Tennessee; her daughter, Marsha Albertson and husband, James of Kent, Washington; son, Craig Terry, and wife Cyndi, of Casa Grande, Arizona; daughter, Brenda Zard and husband, Clayton of Snohomish. Mary also leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
