Aleyamma Mathew Obituary (1925

Aleyamma Mathew March 11, 1925 - July 3, 2014 Mrs. Aleyamma Mathew (Ammachy), daughter of T.T Mathai (Post Master) and Mariamma Mathai of Kulangaramadhom, was born on March 11th, 1925, in Kumbanad, Kerala, India. She passed away on July 3rd, 2014, at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, Washington. She had 7 sisters and 4 brothers. Two of Ammachy's sisters, Saramma and Susamma survive her. Ammachy completed an education in Malayalam literature and Sanskrit and graduated with the highest degree. Ammachy was married on February 22nd, 1945, to Mr. P.T. Mathew, Punnamoottil Vadakel House. Shortly after the age of 20, she was blessed with 8 children: 5 boys (one of whom passed away at a young age) and 3 girls. Ammachy's family expanded throughout the years to include 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grand children. Ammachy's husband (Appachen) died precisely 25 years prior to the date and time of her own demise. After the death of her husband, Ammachy moved to Seattle to live with her son Jose and family. Ammachy unconditionally loved and adored all of her children and grandchildren. Despite all of her constant battles with her health, it was the presence and love from her family that kept Ammachy fighting throughout all of these years. We will always remember Ammachy for her caring character, her contagious smile, and her love for the Lord and her family. Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Ammachy, was immediately made aware of her unequivocal hospitality and kindness. During her youth, and even throughout her later years, Ammachy was known for her passion and knowledge of the latest fashion trends. Ammachy believed in always looking her best, and did so with style and with grace. Ammachy also had an unprecedented talent in cooking. While living in Kerala, she was one of the head chefs for all of the local wedding receptions. Additionally, Ammachy enjoyed reading and gardening. As a member of the Seattle Mar Thoma Church, Ammachy served as the Vice President of Sevika Sangham for many years. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, with Lord, the righteous judge will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for is appearing" 2 Tim 4: 7,8.
