Arthur "Chip" F Kelly, Ii Obituary (1967 - 2019)

Arthur F. Kelly II better known as Chip passed away Jan 6th 2016, Above all he love to laugh and have fun. He always joked that he wanted "See...I told you I was sick" on his tombstone. Chip was born in Los Angeles, California and his early years resided with his parents in Bell Aire. He attended St Paul the Apostle School, and was impeached as the class president in 5th grade and considered this a conspiracy against him by the nuns who taught the class. (This was just the start of a long string of conspiracies for him) He went to High School at Loyola High School and graduated in 1964. He then attended military prep at Millard in Bandon Oregon. His desire was to attend the Air Force Academy, but he chose the University of Santa Clara instead. This part was lucky for me, as I had the privilege to meet Chip there. I was most impressed with his beautiful brown eyes and his smile. I fell in love the first time I met him. Our adventures together in college were somewhat legendary. (at least to us). I became his bride on Jan 28, 1967. Now that I was Mrs Sandra A Kelly, we were truly partners and continued our life together. We had two children, Arthur III (Nick) and Brideen. (the mail was always interesting as we had 3 Arthur Kellys in the same house). Chip graduated from Loyola College with a business degree and became an officer in the Air Force. After school in Texas, he was stationed at Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage, Alaska. He was a systems analyst officer. We decided to stay in Alaska, and Chip went to work for Anchorage Cold Storage as a whiskey salesman on the upstart Trans Alaska pipeline. He also remained an officer in the Alaska National Guard during this time. 1974 found Chip starting his own business. "Sanitation Technics" was the name of his company. He sold water systems and composting toilets to native corporations above the arctic circle. He also became a dealer in Alaska native artifacts. He used to joke, "I was a salesman, and sold used whale parts." In the early 1980s Chip decided to work for Western Airlines as his family was involved the airline business (it was a natural progression). In 1990 Chip and the family moved to Port Orchard, WA and both of us decided to "semi" retire. We built an equine facility and had 8 horses of our own to take care of. Retired? (Not really) Chip always felt that is was important to stay close to his parents, and as they aged, he spent a lot of time caring for them. He was extremely devoted to his mom and dad, and also my parents. He was a consummate care giver. After all the parents died, we were looking forward to some time together, and had many special trips to fun and exotic places. During this time we were blessed with 5 grandchildren, Gryphon Blazier, Jaden Blazier, and Arwen Blazer, Cassee Kelly and Shaelyn Kelly. We lucked out and got a great daughter-in-law, Nicky Kelly. Another addition to the family is Nayo Jones (our daughter Brideen's boyfriend) So here we are, 26 years later. His time on this earth has been cut short and he is missed by so many. I can only say as his wife that life with him was always interesting and never boring and full of love. His sense of humor and dry wit made him a joy to be around. His generosity was boundless.
