Consuella Louise King Obituary (1936 - 2023)

Consuella (Connie) Heckman was born Saturday, Nov. 8, 1936, to Clifford and Norene Heckman in Casey Iowa, at the home of her Grandma. The family lived in Anita Iowa until she turned 7 at which time they moved to Vancouver, WA. After a couple of years, the family moved to Oregon and settled in Cottage Grove. Connie graduated in 1955 from Cottage Grove High School. After graduation Connie and her close friend Carol went on a trip to Southern California and that's where she met the love of her life William King. And as they say, "the rest is history!" Connie and Bill married February 3, 1956. A year and a half later, on July 16, 1957, they welcomed their first child Cynthia Norene. On April 9, 1960, their first son was born William King Jr and July 5, 1965, Douglas Scott King completed the family. The family was a very happy one, full of joy, support, and love for one another. In 1973 the family moved from California to Port Orchard, WA and were very happy. Connie was especially happy to be closer to her family in Oregon. The lovebirds moved one more time to Shelton, WA where they built their dream home. In 2009 Connie lost her beloved Bill. She continued to live in their beautiful home until she came to stay with Cindy, while battling cancer. On the morning of November 19, she lost her brave battle and passed away. She was 87. Connie loved so many things in her life, reading, music, TV (especially the Hallmark channel), BBQs, crocheting, sewing, vegetable gardening, canning, sweets, camping, family and class reunions, puzzles, road trips, casinos, working for the schools, and the bank and especially volunteering at the fire department in Shelton. She took such pride in everything that she did, but she was most proud of her loving family. The holidays and birthdays were always a big priority for her. Connie was an amazing cook who loved nothing more than cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her precious Bill, son in law Dean and all three brother in laws, Kenneth, Jim, and David King. She is survived by her adoring family daughter Cynthia Hammon, two sons William King Jr and Doug King (Dinah) her two grandkids and their spouses Seann (Lindsey) Hammon, and Lindsey (David) Weiss and five great grandkids Nolan, Addison and Brady Hammon and Sophie and Daisy Weiss. Her brother Mike Heckman and four sister in laws Raedelle Heckman, Naomi, Gloria and Jeannie King numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. We had a charmed life thanks to the wonderful caring, loving, supportive and precious lady that we were blessed beyond words to call mom, sister, grandma and great grandma, Aunt Connie and friend. Our hearts are forever broken. She was loved by all who knew her.
