Tenino, Washington
Elizabeth Marie "Betty" James, a beloved mother, a caring nurse, and a devout Catholic, took her rest on May 27, 2025. Born in Buffalo, NY, on July 29, 1932, to the late Clay and Sophie Cashion, Elizabeth was blessed with a heart full of compassion and hands skilled in caring for others. A testament to her faith, she lived by the Catholic verse, "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you," (Matthew 7:12). These words guided her through her life as she touched countless hearts and minds.
In her younger years, Elizabeth, or Betty as she was fondly called, moved from Buffalo, NY to Auburn, WA, before finally laying her roots down in Tenino, Washington. She devoted her life to the care and aid of others, working tirelessly at the State School as a Nurses Aid. Even in her retirement, Betty's nurturing spirit shone through. She filled her days knitting beautiful pieces for her loved ones and diving into the intricate worlds of her beloved books. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, filled with the comforting click of knitting needles and the soft rustle of turning pages.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving children, Richard James, Laureen Kinney, Lissa Young, Ronald James, and Judith Furgeri. She is preceded in death by her cherished husband, Richard James, and her parents, Clay and Sophie Cashion. Elizabeth's life will be celebrated at a graveside service to be held at Mountain View Cemetery, located at 2020 Mountain View Drive Southwest, Auburn, Washington, 98001, on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM PDT.
Elizabeth James, Betty to those who knew and loved her, was a beacon of love, of comfort, and of service to others.
