Grady E Haithcox Sr. Obituary (1932

Grady Eugene Haithcox, Sr., 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. At the time of his passing, he resided at Olympic Alzheimers Residence in Gig Harbor. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Haven of Rest Funeral Home, 8503 WA-16, Gig Harbor, WA 98223 on Wednesday, February 24, 2022. The Rev. Kyle McMillan of Beacon Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at the Haven of Rest Cemetery immediately following the Celebration of Life service. Grady was born October 4, 1932 at New Hill, Wake County, North Carolina, and graduated from Danville Technical Institute, which is now known as Danville Community College. Grady served as a teletype technician in the army during the Korean War. Upon his return home, he worked for 39 years with the Federal Aviation Administration and retired in 1999. He is survived by his wife, the former Carol Lynn Dowd, and two sons, Grady Eugene Haithcox, Jr. (Lesley), of Gig Harbor, WA, and Timothy Haithcox (Leah) of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandsons, Bryan Haithcox (Kathryn); Stephen Haithcox and Jamie Haithcox; and two great grandsons, Bryan William Haithcox, Jr. and Bradley James Haithcox. He also had numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Brother Charles Haithcox (Lois) of New Hill, North Carolina, and sister, Molly Lucas (Bill) of Americus, Georgia, predeceased him. He loved God, and he loved his family. He was known to often sing "You Are My Sunshine," to his wife of 65 years. Throughout his life, the constant continuous thread in his life was this love of family and service to God. Well done, thou good and faithful servant!
