Janice Irene Stattin Obituary (1932

Janice Stattin was peacefully received into the arms of her Lord and Savior on March 10th at the age of 85. Her gifts included serving, ministering and raising her family. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church serving in all aspects from teaching to leading. After her husband passed she believed her purpose was to serve others and she exceeded that calling, well done Mom! She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. Janice was born (9-24-32) and raised in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating from Stadium High School in 1951, she met and married James Stattin to whom she was married for 27 years. They raised three children: daughters Dianna Ottosen (Lee), Cheryl Elstrom and son, Jim Stattin (Kim). Those years formed the foundation of a loving family. Sunday was set-aside for family day attending church, enjoying dinner and scenic drives together. Janice loved to be outdoors and in the kitchen. Outside she could be found gardening, swinging, bird watching or lounging in the pool. While in the kitchen she prepared fabulous dinners for her family, baked delicious cookies with her grandchildren, although she was best known for her lemon bars! Above all, faith, family, and friends were her priorities. Janice was influential in the lives of her grandchildren Kyle (Shelly), Alisha, Eric, Ross (Taylor) and Brianna. The recent addition of her great-granddaughter Blake, brought her much joy! In addition, Janice was extremely close with her three sisters: Natalie (deceased), Virginia and Margaret. She was a tremendously special aunt to many nieces and nephews. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Gig Harbor, Wednesday, March 21st @ 1:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janice's honor to St. John's Episcopal Church of Gig Harbor or Hospice House of University Place.
