Jannette Hack Obituary (1925

Jannette Zabczynska Hack was born May 12, 1925, in Warsaw, Poland. She passed away peacefully March 17, 2017, in Gig Harbor, Wash. Her life as a young woman was changed drastically by World War II. Friends knew her to be kind, energetic, entertaining, and most of all, giving to those in need. Knowing this, it's hard to imagine she experienced the cruelty of war, yet remained a joyful person, a true testament to her strength of character. Her lifetime work as a mother and nurse carried her strength as a woman. After retiring with Dr. Boylan, she continued to volunteer at St. John Medical Center and Hospice. Jannette was preceded in death by her parents, Gustoff and Emily Zabczynska; a son, Richard Hack II; and her companion, Lothar May. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Peter Morkill; and five grandchildren, Anne and Lauren Morkill, and Joey, Daniel, and Heidi Hack. During the last 30 years of life, Jannette approached each day with vigor. Her neighbors and family meant the world to her. She remained steadfast in her love and devotion to family and God until the end, just as she did as that young girl during the war. The family extends its sincere gratitude to Hospice, Harbor Place of Cottesmore, and The beautiful caregivers at Kensington Gardens. A celebration of Jannette's life is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 26th at the Morkill residence in Gig Harbor.
