Katherine Lynn (Sam) Underwood Obituary (1948 - 2023)

In loving memory of Katherine Lynn Underwood, who was born in Everett, Washington on January 20, 1948, to Walter Sam and Harriet Margaret Walsh. She passed away on July 22, 2023, in Auburn, Washington. She was a cherished member of the Colville Tribe but lived in the Muckleshoot Community with her family for over 50 years. Katherine found great pleasure in engaging in traditional activities, such as stick games and Pow Wow, where she connected with her community and celebrated her cultural roots. Family time held a special place in her heart, and she relished every moment spent with her loved ones. Cooking was one of her passions, and she delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends. Katherine's nature extended beyond her family, as she enjoyed helping others and spreading love to everyone she encountered. Katherine leaves behind her son, Bill Anderson, and her daughters, Amy Elkins, Juanita Sam, and Hazel Underwood. Her spirit will live on through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie Leach, and her sister Theresa Sam. Katherine will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
