Kathryn "Kay" (Larson) Reardon Obituary (1927

Kathryn (Kay) Reardon Passed away peacefully, at age 88, on November 27, 2015, with her girls by her side. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to family, as a good friend to many, and as someone who lived her faith. Kathryn was born to Alf and Jennie Larson, on January 13, 1927, in Sheldon, ND. She grew up on a farm in Enderlin, ND, along with seven siblings. During World War II, Kathryn joined the Cadet Nursing Program. She graduated as an RN, from St. Luke's School of Nursing, in Fargo, ND, in 1947. Shortly after graduation, she moved to WA State, where she met and married Donald Reardon, and together they raised two daughters. Kathryn and Don were married for 49 years, until his death, in 2000. Kathryn worked for Tacoma General Hospital for nearly 23 years, where she was Head Nurse for the Post-Surgical Ward. She went on to teach the Ward Secretary Program at Clover Park Voc/Tec, where she retired after 15 years. Kathryn lived in Gig Harbor, WA for almost 50 years, where she was an active member of many clubs and organizations. She was a longtime member of Peninsula Lutheran Church, where she volunteered for numerous projects, including spending countless hours sewing baby garments for Lutheran World Relief. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Litzenberger (David), of Sammamish, WA, and Denise Buell (Rick), of Gig Harbor, WA. Kathryn also leaves behind four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brothers Alan and Chester Larson, sister Esther Braaten, and numerous extended family. A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2016, at 11:00am at Peninsula Lutheran Church, 6509 38th Ave NW, Gig Harbor. A reception will follow.
