Kenneth (Jack) Irvin Clark Obituary (1929 - 2022)

KENNETH (JACK) IRVIN CLARK April 5, 1929 - September 12, 2022 Kenneth (Jack) Clark passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022 in the presence of his family at the age of 93. He was born on April 5, 1929 in Prosser, Washington to his parents, Frank and Ellen Clark, and was the sixth of seven boys in the Clark family. The family moved to Hanford, Washington on the Columbia River and stayed in Hanford until the war effort effectively took over the town of Hanford during World War II. Jack and the family were then relocated to Yakima, Washington where he spent his teenage years growing up. In 1948, Jack enlisted in the Armed Forces and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the troop transport ship, G.L. Eltinge. After serving his country for four years, Jack was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1952 and headed back to Yakima to begin civilian life in the United States. He soon met Joanne Pozzi through mutual friends and the two were married on September 25, 1954. They set up residence in Kent, Washington and he went to work for Pozzi Bros. Transportation originally hauling milk for farmers in the Kent Valley. That milk business expanded in time to hauling freight and he spent his entire career working in a variety of different positions over many years with Pozzi Bros. He decided to retire from Pozzi at the age of 58 and thoroughly enjoyed his many years of retirement with adventures in the outdoors, traveling around the west, camping, hunting, fishing, clamming, wood cutting, finding that elusive huckleberry patch and simply spending quality time with his family, his grandchildren and his brothers and their families as well. Jack is survived by his wife, Joanne, of 68 years; his son Ric, daughter-in-law Carrie and grandchildren Jack, Maisie and Fran (Seattle, Washington); his son John, daughter-in-law Teresa (Kent, Washington); his grandson Garett (wife Bailey) and two great granddaughters Ella and Hadley (Enumclaw, Washington); his grandson Hayden (Kent, Washington); his younger brother Steve and sister-in-law Joan; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. A celebration of life will be held immediately after the graveside service at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack Clark's name to the Washington State Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org/alzwa. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son and friend to many. He will be missed by all those who he touched through his kindness, generosity, deeds and great sense of humor. Jack was a hardworking man of few words and left many enduring memories for all who knew and loved him.
