Lavergne Smith Obituary (1925

LaVergne D. Smith LaVergne was born to Otto and Marie Drska on May 15, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. On June 2, 2010, she passed away in Port Orchard. LaVergne was a lifelong resident of the Chicago area before moving to Kitsap County in 1990. Growing up, LaVergne was quite active in the Girls Athletic Association. She had a way with words and loved to read. LaVergne always had a warm and loving smile for everyone, and always put the needs of others above her own. Hours of enjoyment were spent involved in crafts such as flower arranging and needlepoint. LaVergne will be missed by her husband of over 63 years, Harry Lee Smith; her son, Scott S. Smith of Gilbert, AZ; her daughter, Sharee M. Smith of Port Orchard; her brother, Robert Drska of North Riverside, IL and her grandchildren: Christopher and Michele Smith of Arizona. On Friday, July 16th at 3:00 pm, her family will gather for inurnment at Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor. Remembrances may be made in her honor to either the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
