Laverna Dormaier

Laverna Jean Lesser was born on August 3, 1924, to Mollie and Henry Lesser Jr. Laverna was the fifth of six children. She attended a one room grade school until 8th grade. Her parents moved their children to Odessa during the school year to attend high school. Laverna graduated from Odessa High School in June 1942. On November 15, 1942 Laverna married Paul (Shorty) Dormaier. They started their marriage in Spokane, Washington. They moved to Mollie and Henry’s farm in 1943. In 1947 they had a son, Dennis. Shortly afterwards they moved back to Spokane. Shorty passed away in 2002. Laverna stayed in Spokane until 2023 when she moved to Enumclaw, Washington. Laverna had many jobs from 1947 until she retired in 1987. Predominantly, she was a bookkeeper and Assistant Manager for a newspaper/magazine distribution company in Spokane. Laverna was a quilter extraordinaire. She won many blue ribbons with her handiwork. She will be missed by all with whom she came in contact with.
