Marilyn Janeth (Macfee) Dzewaltowski Obituary (1925

Marilyn J. Dzewaltowski of Tacoma, Washington, died August 14, 2016, following a brief illness. Marilyn was born Jan. 3, 1925 in Charlton, New York, the eighth of eleven children born to William and Emma (McMurtry) MacFee. She grew up and attended school in Scotia, New York. After high school, Marilyn moved to upstate New York to work for General Electric as a draftswoman. In later years, she worked as a portrait photographer, skillfully hand-coloring black and white photographs in the days before color photography was common, and she also worked in retail sales. She met her future husband, Harry Dzewaltowski, when they were both working at General Electric. Marilyn married Harry Dzewaltowski in 1956, and together they moved cross-country from New York to Seattle, Washington, where Harry worked for Boeing until his retirement in 1983. Marilyn was an avid reader, especially of mysteries and thrillers, and she enjoyed cross-stitch and needlepoint and was a diehard fan of the Mariners and Seahawks. She is survived by her siblings, Lyall MacFee, Stewart MacFee, and Emeline MacFee Clapper; her sons, John (Deborah) Dzewaltowski, Gig Harbor, WA, and David (Kathy) Dzewaltowski, and their two children, Chelsea and Alex Dzewaltowski, Manhattan, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Thomas, Ralph, Eldon, Mildred, Vernon, Hilda, and Evedna; and her husband of 57 years, Harry Dzewaltowski. As per Marilyn's wishes, she was cremated and her ashes will be placed in Gig Harbor. There will be a private memorial service for family members.
