Kent, Washington
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Ann Barnes, born January 31, 1942, in Silver Creek, NY, who left us on June 17, 2025. Martha, a loving, supportive, adventurous, and resilient woman, spent her days in Kent, Washington, where she had lived for the past 39 years. She was an integral part of her community and lived a life full of vitality and vigor. "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," Helen Keller once said, and this quote embodied Martha's spirit perfectly.
Martha began her career as an accountant in the medical field, where she worked diligently until her retirement. She was a woman of many talents and interests, but she particularly enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, and crocheting. Her creations were always filled with love and warmth, much like Martha herself. Despite the challenges life threw her way, Martha always remained resilient and optimistic, exhibiting an admirable strength of character.
Martha's legacy is carried on by her loving daughter, Louann Duchemin, her granddaughters Natasha Escott, Sara Torres-Sanchez, Brianna Barnes-Willey, and Bailee Barnes-Willey. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Miguel and Adrian Torres-Sanchez. Her sister, Marge Wunderlich, along with Sally Mae, her faithful canine companion, also survive her. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Jean Cullen.
As we remember Martha, we invite you to share your fondest memories of her on the memorial page. Your stories, photographs, and sentiments are a testament to the incredible life she led and the countless lives she touched. Let's honor Martha's memory by remembering the love, support, and adventurous spirit she brought to us all.
