Myrtle Valley Obituary (1913

Myrtle "Granny" Valley, 99, beloved mother and grandmother, died Nov 4th, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 1986 and daughter, Gerry in 1963. Myrtle was born in Kellogg, Idaho May 12, 1913, one of thirteen children. She married Raymond J. Valley in 1931 in Republic, WA where they made their first home. They eventually settled in Port Orchard in 1943 to raise their three children, Gerry Lou, Dale and Tom. At the age of 50, Myrtle returned to school to earn her High School diploma and LPN Nursing Degree and was employed at American Lake Veterans Hospital until retirement. "Granny" as her grandchildren, as well as her many great and great-great grandchildren knew her, was the heart of her family. Camp run-amok, birthday celebrations and granny's famous apple pie are but a few of the many memories we cherish. We are blessed for having had you in our lives Granny! Myrtle was always active and enjoyed many hobbies. Over the years she was a Boy Scout Den Mother, a member of the Gig Harbor Grange, and Wauna Club. Myrtle was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving tours each spring of the multitude of flowers, plants and trees blossoming in her yard.
