Enumclaw, Washington
Rose Marie Kravagna, a lifelong and beloved member of the Enumclaw community, passed away on August 3, 2026, in Puyallup, Washington, at the age of 90.
Rose was born on November 17, 1935, in Enumclaw, Washington, to Nick and Theresa Silvestri. She was proud to call Enumclaw home throughout her life and remained deeply connected to the community she loved.
Rose graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1954. ln 1956, she married the love of her life, Charles Kravagna. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and the many traditions they shared. Charles preceded her in death in 2022.
Family was at the center of Rose! life, and cooking was one of the many ways she showed her love. Her kitchen was a gathering place where family and friends shared meals, stories, laughter, and memories. Rose loved entertaining and took great joy in preparing food for the people she loved.
Her love of cooking went hand in hand with another passion-gardening. She took pride in growing ingredients in her own garden and often brought those homegrown treasures into her kitchen. There was something especially meaningful about the meals Rose prepared because they were made not only with care, but with ingredients she had grown herself.
Rose also spent many years working as a dietary aide and caterer, careers that reflected her natural gift for caring for others and bringing people together through food.
Rose is survived by her two children, Kim (Richard) and Nick (Stephanie); two sisters, Carla VanderWaal and Julie Smith; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Walters. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and her family was her greatest joy and the legacy she treasured most.
With Rose's passing, her family has lost its center They cannot imagine life without her and will forever feel the space left by her absence. Yet they take comfort in the countless memories she gave them-the meals around her table, the food grown from her garden, the celebrations she created, and, most of all, the love she gave so generously.
Rose requested that there be no funeral. Instead, she asked that the people who loved her remember her in the way she would have wanted: with a good meal and a good glass of wine. So, raise a glass, share a meal, tell a story, laugh a little, and remember Rose. ln doing so, her family hopes the warmth and love she brought to so many lives will continue to live on.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr Dunbrack, Nurse Jamie. Dr Ha, and the Good Samaritan Palliative Care Team for the outstanding care, compassion, and support they provided to Rose and her family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rose's memory to Plateau outreach. Rose will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
