Ruth Arlene Wilson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Muldrow, Oklahoma, on September 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.
Born on July 12, 1935, in Red Cloud, Nebraska, Ruth was the oldest of eight children born to Clyde and Agnes Mann. Her early years were filled with the laughter and love of her siblings, a bond that remained strong throughout her life.
Ruth's journey led her to Alaska, where she met and married her husband, Charles Wilson. Together, they welcomed three children: Kathy, Mike, and then Debbie, who was born after the family decided to settle down in Washington.
Ruth's devotion to her family never waned; she was a stay-at-home mom for many years and cherished every moment spent with her children and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1980, Ruth began her career at the Rainier State School, dedicating many years to this important work until her retirement.
Ruth had a passion for collecting, and her home was a treasure trove of items lovingly gathered for her grandchildren, from baseball cards and Hot Wheels to Harley Davidson memorabilia, Native American items, trolls, cookbooks, and an impressive collection of Elvis memorabilia. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she delighted in their presence and accomplishments (the babies were her favorite!).
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Richard, Loren, Ora, Myrna, and Marie, as well as her grandson Matthew and her ex-husband Charles Wilson. She is survived by her children, Kathy Wilson, Mike Wilson, and Debbie (Greg) Piersol; her grandchildren Sean (Courtnee) Priest, Jordan Wilson, Roxanne (Cix) Mark, Birdie (Chris) Mark, Jenna Bereskin, Miryah Wilson, Rafe Wilson, Natalia Wilson, Kylinna (Justin) Sherwin, Zackary (Becky) Piersol, and Amber (Steven) Tomczak; her twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings Clyde (Pat) Mann Jr. and Doris Jensen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth lived a long, happy life, filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to her family. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
