Sandra "Sandy" Jean (Sprecher) Sargent Obituary (1942 - 2023)

Sandy (Sandra) Sargent, age 80, passed away on April 4, 2023. We ask that she not be defined by the illness that took her from us, but as a true warrior who faced each day with courage and determination. She is predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Fred, and her parents Frank and Fran Sprecher. Sandy is survived by her four children - Mary, Melanie, Alan and Janelle, seven grandchildren - Melissa, Ryan, Kyle, Stephanie, Jacey, Devan and Kiara, six great-grandchildren - Danneka, Dylan, Clark, Calvin, Alexandra, Gunter, and two more great-grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by her siblings Richard, Jack, Jim, Kenny and Susan. She lived a life full of love and adventure. From going on worldly excursions with her lifelong childhood friends to Macho Picchu, Africa, Japan, Germany and more, to playing with her grandchildren at beaches, parks, each moment she spent with her loved ones was cherished. She loved to sew and had a passion for quilting. She poured her heart into each creation and shared her talents by gifting many of her masterpieces to the elderly. Three generations - her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were bestowed with clothing and keepsakes masterfully created by her own hands. She shared her magic by teaching some of her grandchildren to sew as well. She had a flair for cooking and baking. Christmas time was magical. She would bake dozens of Christmas cookies and candies, and was a master architect of gingerbread houses. She cooked amazing multi-course meals - long before microwaves and pre-prepped dishes. But don't be fooled - she could catch a fish from the stream just as easily as she could cook it up. She started her early career as a school teacher for severely emotionally disturbed children. Later in life, she tried her hand in real estate. Her motto was to sell a "home" and not a house. During her years as an agent and property manager, she would often select families who were economically disadvantaged and pack a huge basket of food and toys to drop off at their home as a "secret Santa" gift. She met and married Fred, a beautiful soul, while working as an agent. Upon his retirement, she took over the business as the company's Broker. One of her daughters followed in her footsteps in real estate. She retired several years later to spend more time doing things she loved. The fellowship she shared with the members of Zion Lutheran Church in Kent was deeply cherished. She enjoyed the praise, worship and prayer shared within those walls. She was a faithful servant who donated time, talent, and money to those less fortunate. She was a believer of miracles and experienced many in her lifetime. Even through her many hardships, she knew she was blessed. Her cabin in the woods was her happy place, her solace away from a busy world where she could relax and luxuriate while surrounded by the beauty of tall pines, emerald moss, and the tranquil sound from the nearby stream. As she requested, that will be her final resting place.
