Yana Victorovna Morozova Obituary (1973 - 2022)

Yana (Anna) Victorovna Morozova passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022, surrounded by family and love. She fought with all her will and determination to be with us longer, to love longer. She willed herself here just long enough to see and understand that her first grandchild had finally arrived. And she immediately fell in love. Fittingly, the last words Anna uttered were of love and affection. Our dear Anna was radiant sunshine. She was a gift, special and irreplaceable. She was beautiful, shining from the inside outwards, as true beauty does. She is magnificent, shimmering now in the presence of God. Anna embodied the scripture "blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed...". As a young girl in the USSR she was told by some in authority that God didn't exist, and she didn't believe them. At the age of 19 she was inspired by the love of other Christians she met, then turned more towards Christ and built deeper roots in the Orthodox Church. Anna craved the love of this congregation. Anna was humble and wanted little. She spent her life giving more than she received. She was a devoted mother and to service and connection with others. She followed her father's footsteps in pursing a law degree from Moscow and later a paralegal certificate from the University of Washington. She then made career choices based on her values, first loving her "adopted grandparents" as facility manager at a retirement home, then later loving her clients and colleagues preparing immigration cases for the Refugee Women's Alliance. The verse in this program from Deuteronomy, Psalm 91, singing, prayer, the Gospels, and discussions about Christ uplifted and inspired her beautiful spirit, not just in dark times but always. Anna was tested yet knew she would meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when it was her time. Our family is certain the thousands of anonymous prayers from around the world influenced her fate and eased her suffering, from what could have been. All of you who prayed and shared your hearts, and those who took kind actions in various ways, our family are truly grateful. We're grateful for your continued outpouring of love and offers of support. The loss of Anna, especially at the age of 48, is a true tragedy and something our family and many friends must now learn to live with for all our days. For those not knowing what to do with their sense of loss, mark a calendar and reach out to her family or someone you love. Share your experience or better yet meet and share your experience. Do something for someone. Look at the faults of this world and others through the lens of love. There you will see Anna again. Our family is already drawing comfort sharing stories and our abundant love and affection for Anna. If love is the yardstick to measure success in life, Anna was wildly successful. Yana's was a life well lived and well loved. Whatever and whomever she touched is better because of her. Yana's testament to love, kindness and service to others can be replicated.
