Kathleen Busick was born in New York and grew up in West Hempstead. She met her husband Peter on a blind date when she was sixteen. She graduated with a history degree from the University of Vermont, and then married Peter Busick on December 28, 1963. They had three children, Tara, Kaari, and Bill, and lived all over the country as a Coast Guard family. Kathy started her professional career as a high school history teacher, and over the course of her life, she acquired a masters degree from Glassboro State College and a doctorate from the University of New Orleans. Kathleen went from teaching history to media studies in the seventies and traveled the world to attend media conferences. This led to developing distance learning programs in Alaska, and then she became a curriculum development and assessment consultant in Micronesia. She and Peter retired in Hawaii and lived there for thirty years, spending summers in Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter, her son, Bill, and her daughter-in-law, Chastity. She is survived by her daughters Tara and Kaari, her son-in-law Kevin, and her grandchildren Sierra, Steven, and Ava.
